Motley Crue Releases Official Statement Regarding John 5

With the news that Mick Mars has retired from touring, Motley Crue released a statement naming John 5 as the official replacement. John 5 is a beast on the guitar, so no worries there. No doubt the vibe will be different at live shows going forward.

SWEET!!! Hope they add "Dragula" and "Beautiful People" to the set-list! Just yucking it up.

Now they can really go out on top. Again, just giggling.

Finally, a touring band worth the decent ticket prices. I'm stopping. Promise!

Mick, cash those checks, stay healthy, finish your solo album, and make it rain like Bun E. Carlos does!!!

Could of swore that solo album has had a few release dates... so lets just switch it to "coming soon" or "TBD". HIM, you reminding us made my blood pressure go up. :)

This is actually GOOD news, btw...

Very odd addition but you knew Sixx would get someone completely disconnected from the hard rock scene, unfortunately.

@HIM - not to nitpick, but those are not J5 songs, maybe switch them out for "Let it All Bleed Out" and "Disposable Teens" when you tell this one at your Halloween party this weekend ;)

@Bkallday - I'm not sure we are talking about the same John 5 based on your statement. Maybe look him up...

Yea Mike I know he was in a hard rock band or two but he just doesn’t seem like a good fit to me. Doesn’t look like a good fit either. But that’s just me.

GNR, I, like you, really, really want to hear what Mars has created. If this gives him the push he needs, that is a net benefit to me!!! Heck, he can spend the garbage bags full of money on post-production for all I care!

I know, Mike. Trust me, I know. That was more for effect than anything else. But, you are right.

Bkallday, there you go again!!! I kid. But, yes, John 5 is quite tight with Sixx . . . so this move makes a lot of sense for the b(r)and. And Zombie and Marilyn and DLR are certainly rock, right? So he has the pedigree, even if you don't like him or any of them (and I even mentioned he is goofy looking, what with those Japanese rain slickers he wears on stage and his grease paint Joker look). I will give him this though: super talented (his "Home Sweet Home" tribute was tasteful), and he wears his thinning hair like a champ (something Sixx, hmm, well, err, doesn't seem to do anymore). I also enjoyed him live the two times I saw him. He seems to genuinely love playing for fans. So, for those that go to see this slag heap of late career mediocrity, that is also a good thing.

Great fit! 5 can play, is pale and is submissive to his owners. Some huge Crüe fans on BBG may need to increase their Losarten to 100mg and inch closer to type 2 diabetes as their sedentary lifestyle slowly erodes their ability to stand at a concert. But. Life goes on

Small sample size, I know, but based on this I'm going to have to agree with bkallday that John 5 in Motley is going to be a disaster ... </sarcasm>

Kixchix and Gogmagog, you gave me the shot in the arm I needed!!! Superbly worded posts. Thank you both so much.

And, unlike me, you are both succinct while being dead on. I tend to wander after I bait the hook. You two just cast and go. I should try it!

Gogmagog, the only thing I don't like about that clip (I saw it previously) is that Pearl's voice isn't a good fit for that song, or era, of the band. She has stellar pipes. Just don't dig it. But I bet she could sing the snot out of Corabi-era songs (some of which were playing on Hair Nation this weekend . . . which surprised me).
