'November Rain' Gets Orchestral Makeover

To celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Use Your Illusion albums, Guns n' Roses re-recorded "November Rain" with a 50-piece orchestra. I always love when bands do this, so it's right up my alley. Personally, I don't think the 2022 version (below) sounds all that different from the original. I think the orchestral parts could be more overt, but that's just me. What do you think?

To my untrained ears (hence, the decidedly non-musical terms about to happen), there is a bit more orchestral 'swoosh' to the thing and a slightly 'crisper' sound overall. I attribute the first to the addition of the orchestra and the second to studio magic being done to the original parts.

Then I wanted to do something. I wanted to check my own thinking. So, I did. This is what the guy, Steve Wilson, who did the remixing said:

"The new 2022 version is the same performance as the original, and mixed faithfully to the established version, but with newly recorded orchestration replacing the sampled sounds used at the time."

So, I guess I am not as much of a dullard as I thought (though some of you may keep your opinions the same).

===END BREAK===

Does it make me love the song more? No. Does it make me want to buy the box? No. Am I glad that I heard it? Sure. Moving on.
