Aerosmith Cancel European Tour; Blame Pandemic

Aerosmith was supposed to do a rescheduled European tour this summer. Late yesterday, the band cancelled that tour citing pandemic concerns. There's no doubt the pandemic continues. The Omicron spike of COVID-19 has hit just about every major country in the world pretty hard... but summer is months away. Of course a major tour takes a lot of money and planning, so I understand having to make decisions in advance, but this just seems... suspect. Reading comments online, most folks seem to agree this cancellation is more a result of Aerosmith not wanting to tour anymore period, and less about controlling disease spread. At any rate, it sucks. At this point, I don't think Aerosmith will ever do a proper tour again. I'm glad I saw them live a few times while I had the chance.

No offense to Aerosmith, but let's face it, they're not getting any younger. I think it's wise for them to not tour being that the virus is still unpredictable with yet another variant forming.

Welcome Topher Grace Cole Hauser (that is your full name, right?). I don't recall you posting here before (then again, I was gone for a week or so, so you might have . . . but I post and read in descending order). Careful. Caution is a no-no for some on this site. Kinda' weak. Sorta' soft. Me? Personally? You do you. Urging caution is a good thing in a whole lot of contexts. But I think we all agree that an endemic is what we are after. When it arrives? Who knows at this point? Perhaps that will turn this into a non-political discussion of facts and figures, not a partisan slap fest with the least best combatants duking it out in a steel cage made out of fury and anger and knuckles so dragged across the keyboard that they shine a deep red. Or, sigh, maybe not. I guess I am a dreamer.

But, as to your post, I think that the whole band is clacking along on fumes and hopes, virus or not. No less than two members have suggested that they don't have that much longer left as a touring entity. And live is what people want when it comes to 'Smith, cuz those albums haven't been cutting it for ages. The can lie (like the Scorpions do) and say it is a 'return to form' or 'the old magic is back'. But, no. No, it isn't. And why should it be? They are older fellows who have certainly lived the life. Trust me. We are gonna miss them when they are gone. But what happens if they stay too long? Elvis? Line one. The bathroom is ready.

The best we can hope for? That they 'go out on top', you know, like Motley Crue. Oh wait.

Oh no... another varian, Topher ? Doom and gloom !!! I'm sure that's what Aerosmith is thinking. LOL

Welcome to the jungle, Topher. GNR's got fun and games.

Quick question: isn't Varian a planet on Star Trek? I only ask because I, so many times, have trouble with spelling and names and places. And "Doom and Gloom" is certainly one of the lesser late-stage Rolling Stones tracks. But I like it. Yes I do. What is Aerosmith thinking? About Doan's Pills and hip replacements, I reckon. At their age, getting back in the saddle is a dangerous business!
