Dee Snider Releases Video For 'Stand'
Recently, REELZ aired a documentary about the Station Nightclub fire. The movie followed the people who attended the show and how their lives - and the community of West Warwick, Rhode Island - was devastated by the tragedy. The focus of the film isn't solely on Great White.
As a refresher, 100 people were killed and more than 200 injured during the blaze. The fire started after some of Great White's pyro went awry, sparking the acoustical foam and quickly burning through the club.
Dee Snider has a new album called Leave A Scar and "Stand" is one of the singles. The song features clips of the documentary. Snider hopes the song will shine some more light on the victims of the fire.

This video is, respectfully, cringe-inducing. He is using a real tragedy as a promotional kit for his music. I would expect better from him. A real shame.
You don't honor the victims by trying grab a slice of their pain. And you do a disservice to the shades and nuance that are involved in this tragic event. Dee, who told you this was a good idea? Oh, I know. You.
Remember when new album PR was adverts in Hit Parader and Circus, coupled with VJ’s getting promo marching orders from MTV (the VH contest back in ‘84 was the best. YouTube has a snippet of the kid partying hard with the band. That’s rock n roll!) to push the “latest” album?” It all moved so slow back then. But Dee has a few weeks to blanket social media sites with this kind of “news” which is really promotion. The speed at which we digest stuff today is so concerning. Before ya know it Bret Michaels and Joe Elliot will be popping up with “news”. Then the stadium silliness commences.
But I stick by my comments. I think that, to borrow your phrase, Dee's heart is all over the place these days. And if his video, and his comments about the tragedy, do raise awareness, I am so totally cool with that. I just don't think that his choice with this video made a lot of sense.
Wishing you well, Gallogs. Thanks again for pointing out another perspective.
