Farewell Taylor Hawkins
Taylor Hawkins, phenomenal drummer for the Foo Fighters, died suddenly in Bogota, Colombia. He was 50 and no cause of death has been released. The Foo Fighters were in Colombia to headline the Festival Estereo Picnic and were also set to play Lollapalooza Brasil Sunday. The band has a massive run of tour dates ahead of them. I highly doubt any of those happen now - or in the future.
Foos frontman Dave Grohl always considered Hawkins a brother. In his recent autobiography I believe he wrote that if any member of the band died, that would be the end of the Foo Fighters. Before joining the Foo Fighters, Hawkins was the drummer for Alanis Morissette.

I read the Rolling Stone obit around 4 a.m. - and I urge you to give it some attention as well. Click the tweet below.
"Our chemistry was so obvious that even Alanis [Morissette] herself once asked him, 'What are you going to do when Dave asks you to be his drummer?'" Dave Grohl wrote in his memoir about Taylor Hawkins. "Part Beavis and Butthead, part Dumb and Dumber." https://t.co/lpblgfNTTF

Taylor Hawkins might’ve been the only drummer alive who could support Dave Grohl and not make you wish Grohl was sitting behind the kit.

Saw him with the Foos and also on the second stage at Houston Open Air with his cover band, Chevy Metal. Loved the latter, was 'meh' on the former. But he, like Grohl, seemed to have a genuinely nice personality and a true passion for music. My condolences to his family, friends, and fans. Sad loss.
I've tried so hard to like the Foo Fighters, in part because Grohl seems like such an amazing human being, but I just don't. Except for Skin And Bones, and that I like a lot.
I think we share the same feeling about the FF and also about Grohl and Hawklins. Me? I can admit I like "Monkey Wrench." Beyond that? It is all "hmm" and "oh" and "sure."
But do check out some of the live stuff from the various versions of Chevy Metal on YouTube. And if you can find a clip or two from their Houston Open Air slot, it was great. They were a hoot.
