Sunday's Best: Week 12, 2022

It was a long week, wasn't it? The weather was crappy again by me. I woke up to snow both yesterday and today and so much cold! The news is depressing... and work is work. Looking for something to cheer me up, I thought about the best Swedish rock bands. That's our Sunday's Best for this week.

Obviously, Europe is on the list. I mean, is there a better rock band from Sweden? Creating stadium anthems since before the 1980s, Joey Tempest has one of the greatest voices in Glam. My favorite Europe track is easily "Superstitious."

Hardcore Superstar just released their new album Abrakadabra and also dropped their video for the title track. HS is a great band and definitely one of my favorites.

Of course, no list of my favorite Swedish rock bands is complete without Crashdiet. So many different singers, but each one brings a new flavor to the group. Here's "Rust."

Crazy Lixx is also always on my favorites of Sweden list. I was in love with this band the first time I heard them. They've been around since 2002 and Loud Minority is a great debut. That was back when one of the founders, Vic Zino, was still in the band. Zino is with Hardcore Superstar now and has been since 2009.

If you haven’t checked out Nestor, they are another great, new Swedish band. Their debut album is called Kids in a Ghost Town.

A little Swedish rock band called GHOST are dominating the charts this week, and have been killing it since around 2011.

Lots of top-shelf Swedish metal, far too many to list here, but everyone should check out SOILWORK "Stabbing The Drama", and if that tickles your fancy check out IN FLAMES, AT THE GATES, DARK TRANQUILLITY... the list goes on.

Speaking of SOILWORK, the singer and guitar player are in THE NIGHT FLIGHT ORCHESTRA, who are a phenomenal 80's AOR throwback band that also includes the bass player from ARCH ENEMY.

On the OG Glam Metal front, SHOTGUN MESSIAH were the bomb, and ahead of the curve come early '90s with "Violent New Breed".

I dig that new HARDCORE SUPERSTAR, "Forever and a Day" is a jam!

CRAZY LIXX is decent, but in general I find them a little too goofy; like they are a parody hairband with well written songs.

The whole modern Swedish sleaze/glam movement really goes back to BACKYARD BABIES, their guitar player also formed THE HELLACOPTERS (who have new music out as well).

EUROPE were too much of a cheesy BON JOVI clone to me, I could never really get past that.
