'Fire It Up' -- New Def Leppard Track

The new music keeps rolling in this week. Def Leppard just released "Fire It Up" from their upcoming new album Diamond Star Halos. I have to say, I really like "Fire It Up" and I think the new album is going to go over well for Def Leppard. They are making music for legacy fans and this new stuff is giving me Hysteria vibes. "Fire It Up" is a fun song for summer, so this is dropping at just the right time. Good for the Leps... and good for us, too!

I hear you, Allyson. They are finally mining their history for a somewhat age-appropriate reclamation project.

Of all the ones you have posted, I like this one the best. Why? See my second sentence. And I say that having noted--again and again and again--that the era they are mining isn't my favorite. But no one cares what I like.

As you said, this is for 'legacy fans' who came of age when Hysteria was the thing, and who perhaps thought that Adrenalize was a worthy successor. Me? Nah. Catchy. But not what I signed up for. Again, who cares what I think?

But let me end with my dirty little secret: I actually liked the song "Slang" when it came out. Still do. Why? Well, it was different and hardly trend-seeking (I am willing to argue that point!). I would place that song next to "Down Incognito" by Winger and--here I go--"Breadline" by Megadeth as songs that went in a different direction and, largely, hit the spot for me.

teacher says, every time a new def leppard song is played, an angel loses it’s wings.

Stu, don't say that. It was the best thing that Tony Shalhoub ever did!!! And Punky Meadows doesn't need any more help. He's doing fine.
