Whitesnake Cancels Remainder Of European Tour

The remaining European tour dates for the Whitesnake farewell tour were just scrapped. Singer David Coverdale made the announcement via his official social media channels. The cancellation comes after the band had to nix a few shows last month because of Coverdale's health and sinus issues. Guitarist Reb Beach missed a few shows too because of illness and then drummer Tommy Aldridge got sick and had to miss a gig, too.

The seemingly doomed tour was canceled basically over health issues - but probably most related to Coverdale's voice. No clue if the band will reschedule the dates or not, but none of the members is getting any younger and Coverdale is 70. Touring is a grind at 25. I can't imagine how exhausting it must be at 70 or beyond.

If it was solely (not that you said that, Allyson) about Coverdale's voice, they would have cancelled the last few tours. At least he was honest about getting new members who could help pick up his slack. Mind you, he has been waving his microphone at the crowd a lot these past few years. And his band has basically served as his choir too.

For being 900 years old (but looks like he did back in the 80s and 90s), it is amazing that Aldridge was felled this time. The guy is amazing. I am glad to hear he is better.

And we all know what 'illness' is code for these days. Methinks the touring landscape is still fraught with problems . . . esp. when you are responsible for many, many people on the larger tours.

Hope everyone has a good 4th, even our friends in the UK! Giggle.
