David Coverdale Is Posting Cryptic Stuff On X

I assume we are getting a new release of some sort from Whitesnake (or remaster probably). Singer David Coverdale has been posting all kinds of weird stuff on X and he promises something Friday:

Yes, this is a different post than the one above - different album cover - check out the timestamp!

The Dead Daisies Cover Whitesnake

Just for fun! The Dead Daises - newly reunited with singer John Corabi - just released a video of the band covering Whitesnake's classic "Slide It In." I have to say, Corabi sounds amazing on this song.

Of course guitarist Doug Aldrich was also in Whitesnake and drummer Brian Tichy was too for a hot minute, so that chemistry and muscle memory of the song was already there.

The Dead Daises are going on a short tour this month and next -- but there are no dates near me!

Whitesnake Cancels Remainder Of European Tour

The remaining European tour dates for the Whitesnake farewell tour were just scrapped. Singer David Coverdale made the announcement via his official social media channels. The cancellation comes after the band had to nix a few shows last month because of Coverdale's health and sinus issues. Guitarist Reb Beach missed a few shows too because of illness and then drummer Tommy Aldridge got sick and had to miss a gig, too.

The seemingly doomed tour was canceled basically over health issues - but probably most related to Coverdale's voice. No clue if the band will reschedule the dates or not, but none of the members is getting any younger and Coverdale is 70. Touring is a grind at 25. I can't imagine how exhausting it must be at 70 or beyond.

Whitesnake and The Scorpions Announce Big Tour

This one will be fun! Whitesnake is teaming up with The Scorpions for a summer and fall run of America. Whitesnake is retiring - and The Scorps say they never will. Regardless, if you have not seen these bands live, go while you still can! There is a noticeable lack of east coast dates - I am going to assume more shows will be added.

Sunday's Best: Week 14, 2022

Another week in the books. It literally snowed here all day yesterday and we bloody miserable. Now the sun is out and a warmup is promised! That makes me grateful. I was thinking about gratitude when I saw a Tweet from David Coverdale. Made me want to listen to a little Whitesnake and think about their past live appearances. Looking over their live clips is our Sunday's Best for this week.

Whitesnake - Live at Donington in 1990. Incredible!

Here's an amazing clip from 1987 - featuring "Still Of The Night" live.

...and to compare, here's "Still Of The Night" in 2004. Also amazing!

Happy Valentine's Day, Hair Metal Fans

Are you going out tonight for Valentine's Day? Perhaps you are staying in. Eric and I don't really celebrate these sorts of holidays, so there is nothing special planned in our household.

Perhaps you'd like to have a throwback Valentine's Day, complete with a homemade mixtape (ok, Amazon playlist) of great power ballads for the one you love. Here's some choices for a great power ballads list.

  • Metallica, Nothing Else Matters
  • Aerosmith, Dream On
  • Whitesnake, Is This Love?
  • Extreme, More Than Words
  • Bon Jovi, Always
  • Van Halen, Can't Stop Lovin' You

Hair Metal's Heaviest Riff?

This is actually a really damn good list. A guy who posts as The Art of Guitar on Facebook and YouTube created a list of his picks for the heaviest riffs in hair metal. He plays each song, too!

Some of the selections include Whitesnake's "Still of the Night" and Slaughter's "Take Me Away." Of course, Skid Row's "Slave To The Grind" is included. Shotgun Messiah makes an appearance and so does Dokken. Give it a play and let me know what you think.
