The Dead Daisies Cover Whitesnake

Just for fun! The Dead Daises - newly reunited with singer John Corabi - just released a video of the band covering Whitesnake's classic "Slide It In." I have to say, Corabi sounds amazing on this song.

Of course guitarist Doug Aldrich was also in Whitesnake and drummer Brian Tichy was too for a hot minute, so that chemistry and muscle memory of the song was already there.

The Dead Daises are going on a short tour this month and next -- but there are no dates near me!

Not too bad! Its a little too high of a register to sing in for Corabi but he doesn't do a bad job.

Agreed, Jeff. I think, for a rehearsal, this sounded quite good. And I am sure it would go down well in a live setting.

Even if Lowy is using his Piggy Bank from Lowy Family Group to fund his personal dreams and interests (including aviation), so be it. He has gathered some interesting musicians into his, ahem, collective (including Hughes, who just didn't seem to fit) over the time that the DD have existed. He must be: (a) a nice fellow; (b) a good boss, (c) a good _paying_ boss; or (d) all of the above.

I liked that Aldrich chose to do something different with the solo. And it felt like Tichy was mimicking the UK version of the song (at least, in part). So any Cozy nod is a good nod to me. Corabi? You all know how I feel about him. If this is the venture that gets him exposure, and a paycheck, at this point, I am good with that.

Had been off the BBG! for a bit. So this was a nice way to ease back into things. Thanks, Allyson.

They cant even play state fairs. Lol

In my best Paul Lynde voice: "Oh Bkallday, behave!" We get it. We got it. You made your point. Then again, so did I. So did Jeff. (Jeff, I am sorry to bring you into this. I just had to mention that other people had other POVs that weren't related to corn dogs and deep-fried Twinkies).

But, as to your point? You made it a bit too quick. They are doing an international tour. Sure, the Spotify O-East in Tokyo only holds a bit over 1K. And Pumpehuset in Copenhagen only holds 600. And I am super sure that most if not all of this is being underwritten by a certain fellow who I mentioned in my post who has a dream and the money to make it come true. So, musicians are getting paid and fans are getting to see a band they want to see in venues that are that big. Oh no. The horror!!!!

But, state fairs? I don't see a single one on the tour itinerary. Not a one. And if you are mad that a few fans can see them in PA or ON (to be clear, those are abbreviations for a state and a province), that seems a bit dicey. Which leads to this question: what is wrong with state fairs? Many of our favorite bands made and make it through the lean times playing those fairs, delighting their fans, and trying to stay afloat or have fun. And guess what? Who is playing at the Kentucky State Fair, with Autograph, in a few days? Vince Neil! That's who! And who gets along with Neil, perhaps because they both know how MC is run, then and now? Oh, Corabi.

I know that some of your animus is aroused by the mere mention of Corabi. And you don't have to like him. But what did he do to you (putting aside whatever The Dead Daisies did)? Did he kill your cat, Mr. Mittens? Slap your Pepaw? Not spot you at the gym?

Bkallday, at a certain point, you might want to just say: I don't like Corabi, or The Dead Daisies. But your state fair take-down rings tinny, even for you.

And . . . I love that you post here, time after time. Long live your primal scream even when your attempts to cobble together an actual argument go on a hooligan's holiday. On a holiday. A hooligan's holiday.

Ok you’re comin for me again. Let’s go bro! First of all “Vince Neil” is not “Motley Crüe”.You can catch them at a local stadium near you, btw(yeah, even without the dynamo that is Mick Mars!!!) Secondly my problem with Corabi(who I guess you are an “admirer” of?) is the fact that he can’t keep his big mouth shut about his time in Motley and how he was done so wrong(which is comically the main reason he’s known in the first place). Do you have the tour numbers for how they did on that MC94 tour, just asking for a friend. I would Google but it’s out of order, ya know. Also, I was a huge fan of Scream way before Corabi was in the Crüe, he was just a horribly misshaped, homeless looking scab that took Vince’s place in one of the most legendary hard rock bands of all time. It just worked out about as well as the square wheel. Hey don’t blame me, the fans did all the talking needed on that tour(which I wasn’t at, but I did get to see Vince with Van Hagar & that was a great show!) 🤘🏼

Not coming at you at all, Bkallday. If anything, you reconfirmed what I thought about your animus to Corabi, though I appreciated the nod to The Scream.

And, yet again, I think we agree on more than you know and/or remember. The MC94 tour was a misfire in terms of sales. The MC94 album tanked. We agree, right? But, but, but . . . as I have said before, I like that album. So did Mick. So, too, Mars (though see below). You don't. Fine. See? We agree on a lot more than your keyboard tickling lets on.

Of course I know that VN isn't MC. I think that was just a flourish on your part. My larger point is--well, was, as I already made it--that state fairs have helped, and continue to help, artists we love make some money. No shame there.

Two final points which are, wonderfully, new:

(1) What would you have done if you were Corabi? Refused the offer of a job? I mean, I get it. He wasn't VN. It didn't work out. I guess I just don't get the point of slamming a guy for taking a job, whether it worked or didn't. Kelly Hansen isn't a "a horribly misshaped, homeless looking scab," is he? How about Marc Tornillo? La Torre? Or are they well-shaped homeowners simply because they worked out? By that metric, all of Great White's recent singers have been bloated beasts who squatted where they didn't belong. They. Just. Took. A. Job. Besides, Corabi back in the MC94 era rocked a pretty slim look. Nowadays, he is a bit more ratty looking. But he seems to be having fun.

(2) As with many of these complaints about people shutting their pie-holes, what would you do if you were asked the question? Sit there silent? Be a prima donna and request that you not be asked about what was, likely, your most visible career role? He has explained this on countless occasions. Why? Because he was asked. And, thankfully, some of the interviews are shifting back to him being in TDD. But I have never slammed an artist for answering questions. Not Hagar. Not Lombardo. Not anyone. Nor have I been angry when some of them have chosen not to answer questions (even if I think that is a prima donna move). Their choice. Not mine.

Yes, I could go see either MC on a stadium tour or VN at a state fair. Obviously, anyone could. And, obviously again, many people do. I just choose to do neither of those things anymore. Reason? One guy is slowly killing himself. Two guys are stuck in different sorts of amber (hint: one is a juvenile; one is an egomaniac who makes things up). The other guy, John5? I have seen him on several occasions. Talented. Guess what he did? He took a job. And I think he is in pretty good shape and probably owns a house. He might have scabs. But he isn't one. This isn't some union passion play. It is about opportunities. It is about playing. It is about making a living doing something that most of us couldn't do while a lot of people who can do it barely scrape by. Simple enough.

So, no, Bkallday. I am not coming for you. That would be funny though. Sneaking around the internet, slowly moving in, waiting . . . TO STRIKE! Hahaha. Hilarious. I, like you, like to respond to things. You did. I just did. And I thank you once again. And I hope you are doing well.

Again, I answered your question. Sorry if that’s not a good enough reason for you. Also, you like Corabi so you’re obviously willing to cut him a break and rationalize anything he does. However, I sit on the other side of the Corabi fence, so to me he gets no breaks. Plus all those other guys, the last I knew, didn’t go on talking a lot of crap about the band that made them known in the first place. I don’t have any problem with replacements, but bad replicas that can’t keep their traps shut, those are the ones I have an issue with. If John 5 turns around one day and goes scorched earth on MC, then we can compare the two. That’s fine that you won’t go see them anymore btw, there are plenty of younger, much less jaded fans taking your place! Long live the fucking Crüe!!! Disappointing haters since 1981, baby!!! 🤘🏼

You lost the script and stuck to yours, I guess, Bkallday. I was trying to be diplomatic on this topic. That's fine. One of the reasons I love you, brother. You are never not sure of yourself. I can see you on the deck of the Titanic, screaming: "It's just listing. ROCK ON!!!!" And you likely would have, right next to Wallace Hartley, though likely for different reasons.

I just find your love-hate relationship with MC fascinating. You can slag them when you want. No problem. Others do? Oh no! Here comes the Kentucky Headhunter!!! I get the sense that you often read selectively, see what you want, and then unfurl your flag of righteous swagger. I get it. Reading carefully, pausing to consider your next point, and then circling back to make sure you made that point (in response to another point) takes time. Even then, all of us are prone to a mistake, a contradiction, an editing error. But you rise up against the common foes that us ordinary folk (often unhoused, sometimes misshapen, occasionally old) can't slay. You are a young, home-owning, straight-standing slayer (see what I did there?) of fictions that most of us believe in. You are, as Dee Snider once referenced, a legend in your own lunchtime. And that is a compliment, though it slide off the back of my hand as I was typing this.

You can't get out of your own way sometimes. If reading is fundamental, then I guess . . . well, this is actually getting kinda' boring. Heck, I even noticed a sorta' mistake (or, at least, a contradiction) in my last post. But that wasn't mentioned. So I will let that go too. Why? As I said, time is a commodity. And I have a great time tickling you just to see what sort of giggles it elicits. But, occasionally, I get a finger cramp and realize that you are out there, being you, in spite of others trying to talk to you. Another reasons I love you, brother. You are nothing if not easy to read (in at least one way, if not several).

I guess I just want, at some point, to have an actual discussion with you. And it is on me for trying, and trying, and trying to do that. You are you. I am Him. But the fact that you end with a 'horns up' is a declaration of your love of metal. That's good by me . . .

. . . and I can't wait to see what magic you come up with to end your part of this non-discussion? Can I make a request? Can it be all up-caps or emoji-only, or at the very least include several exclamation marks? Oh, and one or two ad hominems. That's it. Not good form to make requests of a person who, being true to themselves, never--ever!--stoops to the demands of those who cower in their glorious shadow.

As I ended my last post (and will end this post, my last on this discussion), I hope you are well.

TLDR. You asked why i disliked Corabi, then I answered. Idk where the rest of that came from, I’m guessing you have a lot of free time on your hands though, and felt a lil stung, so that was your distinct way of lashing back out(even if what we were discussing previously had absolutely nothing to do with all that). & good for you for having that much spare time, btw! I’m envious of that for sure. Hope all’s well tho!
