'Screaming In The Night' Is A Banger Of A Song

I was listening to Hair Nation while getting a coffee earlier today and on popped "Screaming in the Night" from Krokus. Always like the song and never really considered the band as "hair metal" but whatever. The song is on the album Headhunter. For me, it always seemed like a different type of "power ballad." Definitely more inventive than most and I was glad to hear it this morning.

i agree Ally-kat used to love this song. my fave part is in the bridge where the guitar goes: chunka-chunka.

I was all lined up to see them in Spokane on their farewell tour in 2020. You know what happened to that!

Like Krokus a lot. Thing is, they toggled between leaning in to the benefits of trying to sound like Bon-era AC/DC and trying to do other things (case in point: this song). Created a bit of a muddle (even if all parts of that muddle had some good, if not great, bits). I mean, it's a long way till the stick goes boom on our love, or something like that.

It is also the case that Storace was a minor-league Kevin DuBrow, barking a bit too loud, and showing a bit less than his mouth warranted. I think they had the makings of a solidly second-tier metal band back in the day. But the issues above and, obviously, the issues with the corporation(s) that marketed them, sorta' sank their chances of grabbing the bigger ring.

Still, I hope they come back this way for a final go around. I will be there. One thing though: make sure you bring a set list to match the stuff we all want to hear. Your newer stuff has been pretty good. But fans aren't showing up (well, some of us) to hear your recent releases on a farewell tour. And I say this as someone who was surprised to hear that they almost gave it all up during the pandemic and have decided to stick with it for just a bit longer.

Side-bar: though Storace tried to sound like Bon, he now rocks a very Johnson-esque look on the top of his dome!
