Styx Announce Las Vegas Residency

If you've never seen Styx live... you'll have the chance this winter in Las Vegas. The band is doing a residency at The Venetian from January 27 - February 4, 2023. In my mind, that isn't exactly a residency so much as an extended run of shows, but whatever. Tickets go on sale Friday. I'm sure tickets will be pricey!

all tickets are pricey these days it seems, even club shows. styx is kind of an odd vegas residency to me. but they are a good show.

I don't know how their show is these days, but I can tell you it was pretty damn good back in the day. Fond memories. Styx was the first concert I ever attended back in the summer of '81 for the Paradise Theatre tour. Aaah... good times :-)

No DeYoung, no DeNetian for me!!!

At this point, I could care less about this band. But I wish, just wish, that JY could get over it and accept the fact that some people would pay (and pay more) to see DeYoung handling the vocals, or sharing the spotlight with Gowan (who, admittedly, does an excellent job). Domo? No go.

I bet the shows that Eddie saw were spectacular. Lucky him. Eddie, what are your thoughts on the whole DeYoung vs. Young fracas? Just curious. And I pitch as him vs. him because I bet Shaw could care less about their issues. But that is a guess. Because I think, truly, that DeYoung is a diva . . . but his recent shows demonstrate that he still brings something to those songs that Styx simply doesn't. And his recent (well, they go back several years) attempts to signal (very, very hard) that he thinks a reunion of sorts would be great for fans strikes me as a version of an olive branch that Young (and, to be fair, Shaw) haven't seemed to grasp. Perhaps this is shades of Skid Row? Who knows? But I do know that Park Ave. leads to the Paradise Theatre!

Stu, ticket prices aren't just high, they are stupidly high. And, when they aren't high, the thinking at the LIVE MUSIC CORP. (pick one, there aren't many) is stupid. Case in point: the Doobies played Shoreline last night. Very few tickets sold. So what do they do? They close the lawn section and make people buy tickets in the seats. Why? Don't know. For me, a Doobies concert on the lawn at any amphitheater is a good night. For others, maybe not. But what is the rationale? Oh, I know. Scarce staff. Really though? To police a lawn and run one vending station on a hill?!?! IF, yes, IF, the attendance is already low? Hmm. Granted, seeing the band up close(r) might be a real treat for some. For others, though, it is an after-thought. So, if LIVE MUSIC CORP. isn't robbing you of money, they are taking away options. On some level, I hope this leads to an eventual reckoning, wherein LMC has to actually take fans into account. Trust me, I know that is a pipe dream. But at least plane tickets will come down, eventually, right?
