30 Years Of 'We All Die Young'

Steelheart has released a lyric video to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the song "We All Die Young" from the movie Rockstar. Of course, the band was Steel Dragon in the film and Mark Wahlberg was lip synching to Miljenko Matijević's vocals. I still say "Milli" has one of the best voices in all of rock. He's promised a 30th anniversary album by the end of the year, too. Something to look forward to!

Cheesy movie but still was a fun watch. One of the best scenes was when he was auditioning and had to sing this song in front of the band. Oh yeah, that and when he took the header down the steps during the first show singing Blood Pollution!

Loved that movie. And i would love a Steelheart tour, but only if theyre gonna play the real songs and not all the sappy ballads, or changing around how the song really goes!!! And yes, he has absolute pipes!

I've always wondered how hard it was for Michael Starr to sing "Long Live Rock And Roll" that badly during the audition scene.

It looks like we all agree: he is a cyborg! He has pipes!! I kid.

I met him once, briefly. Nice enough. Saw him live that time as well. And I was surprised at how great his voice was. Instant reassessment of him as a singer.

The movie? Yeah, it has its moments. For me, it was all about telling my friends that those people, in that band, are actually great performers who are/were in other bands that were (often) great. The Priest angle? Not really there in the movie. And it shows. But, then again, not sure a real movie about Priest would ever sell. Ripper, whatcha' think? Not trying to start a 'fight' with you and Halford. After all, you love those guys, right?

But it was really difficult for a fellow like me to get over the cheese-visuals of the video for Steelheart's (well, his) most well-known song (you know the song). I mean, it was a ghastly, acid-washed, denim nightmare of . . . . well, several of his pipes, actually. Again, I kid.

Gogmagog, I bet Starr had the time of his life and thought, just thought, this was the moment it would all take off. And it did. Sorta'. Now, tucked and nipped, 'toxed and toned, he raises the smarmy flag of parody metal. I, for one, dig it. I, also for one, hope they step up their game the next time they release something. Resting on your laurels, and those of the bands you lovingly imitate, can only go so far if you are only willing to do so much. Besides, you give the critics too much fodder when you release weak-toast and then expect fans to slather on the butter for you. Step up your game, Steel Panther! I know you can.
