Monsters of Rock Cruise 2024 Open For Booking

If you are so inclined, the booking window has opened for the March 2 - 7, 2024 Monsters of Rock Cruise. The sailing is on Royal Caribbean and is five nights. It seems like acts are still being added because Black N' Blue were announced just two days ago.

I did a quick, fake booking to see the cost and it looks like a balcony cabin for two adults is around $6k which is about right for a music cruise these days. If you want to attend, don't wait! I do think this lineup seems fun, but I couldn't convince Eric to go on this one.

Some good bands on this voyage. I can imagine Pat Travers standing to the side, watching the others as they preen and prance. Boom! Boom! Out go Bang Tango. But seeing April Wine sing "If You See Kay" would be a hoot!

But a 6K hoot, so as to not be stuck in steerage or in the above-water rooms with a porthole? A touch too steep for me. As a one or two day festival at some amphitheater? I'd likely be there in a heartbeat. I mean, who doesn't want to see the Pearl that is Jizzy lead while Sarzo licks? Or Wolf lead his merry band of Hoffmans doing their thing, T.T. Quick?

Glad there is a market for this sorta' thing. Hope all that go enjoy the music, the buffet, and all the rest.

New teeth, Metalboy?!?!

I thought you were saving up to buy us all that luxury metal limo. We can all gum our drinks. But we can't arrive in a Yugo! Well, I guess we could. And, come to think of it., not having teeth and driving to a concert in a Yugo sorta' makes sense.

So glad to see you posting.

Ripper (at first I thought you were doing a stream of consciousness thought-puzzle about Ripper Owens; then I read your name!), you seem like an admirable bloke. Let me ask you: what is your take on the current state of Telsa? I leave it open-ended because I like to give people room to move. Just curious.

Him…. The current state? Just saw them in Florida and they sound just as awesome as when I saw them in 1987!!!!!

Thanks for the reply, Ripper. Truly. I hear a lot of negative comments about them as of late. The singer's voice. The songs on more recent albums. Etc. Etc.

I have always enjoyed their music. And I have seen them live several times, and heard them live several times from the parking lot while we were getting ready to see other acts. They seem like a totally working hard, bringing as much as they can, sorta' band.

Again, appreciate your take.

Him…. JKs voice does have a slight tinny sound. Honestly it doesn’t bother me at all. As far as their new songs…. I dig them . Time to Rock and Cold Blue Steel kick ass. I didn’t love the songs produced by Phil, Sounded a bit too much like Leppard to me.

Appreciate the follow-up too, Ripper. I can't begrudge a singer for aging. On this site, I sing the praise of some singers in far worse shape than him. And I thought--and posted at least once about it--that some of the slagging on Wheat last year was in really, really poor taste.

One final question: where do you stand on the whole Skeoch situation? I leave that question sorta' open-ended because I am sure your opinions have more nuance than mine, given that I am just a casual fan.
