If Only This Would Happen...

I just don't see AC/DC playing the Super Bowl halftime show. Even people who don't like rock music know AC/DC songs, but there's just no way. It will be a pop act I'm sure. Apparently Taylor Swift declined - and she's probably the biggest artists on the planet right now. Maybe I'll be wrong - and we will get a rock halftime show. Just don't bet on it.

And, at this point, the Angus Corp., LLC (formerly the Mal Corp.), doesn't do a lot to interest me. Sure, having Johnson and Williams and Rudd back (at least I think he still hasn't threatened anyone else) is cool.
But, really? What's the exit plan, fellas? You are long overdue for a farewell tour. So do it. Go out with a big bang, rather than an overly staged, choreographed, confetti-filled tribute to an American indulgence that has lots, and lots, of problems.
Cool that the guy in Nevada love AC/DC. A lot of us do (or did). And a lot of you love football. Cool too. But AC/DC at the Super Bowl is about as interesting as talking about why people are wrong for hating on Flick of the Switch and Fly on the Wall. I mean, we all know those haters are wrong. right? Right?
Besides, the real trick would be getting Skinny Puppy to play the Puppy Bowl. And Nitzer Ebb could open with "Getting Closer." That I would watch!
But, just to clarify. I don't like many pop acts. And I certainly don't care who is on that big stage either. Besides, most acts on said stage are already popular enough. I mean, thank God Prince finally was given the attention he deserved after spending so many years in the shadows! Hahaha.
And I think you are right: AC/DC remain relevant. I just don't like what I now know about their internal dealings. It has sorta' soured me on them. But I am still a fan of their music, both with Johnson and Scott. And I have also liked some of their more recent output, though not as much as I did up to albums like The Razor's Edge.
That comment about wearing their shirts though? Hmm. You know there is a whole cultural thing where people wear the shirts and have no idea about the band? To some, it is a sign of ironic affectation to put on shirts with pretty or spooky or interesting pictures. It has nothing to do with the music for those people (and note I didn't say everyone). Look it up online. It's there to read about.
I guess, as a final gesture, I will say this: if that stage, with a band like AC/DC on it, turned a few more people onto the genre(s) of music we both like, I am totally good with that.
