Black Veil Brides - Not So Glam
Ok, I don't get it. Why are people calling Black Veil Brides Glam? They're not Glam. They're emo. Which is fine - I've got nothing against them or emo bands really - I just don't get all the Glam press. Just because the band's singer Andy Six happens to be obsessed with Kiss and Motley Crue doesn't mean much - in sound anyway. In image...well, that's something else. In reality, I think Black Veil Brides is basically screamo with some Bullet for My Valentine/Avenged Sevenfold influence.
Black Veil Brides will release their debut We Stitch These Wounds on July 20. The band is on a Hot Topic sponsored tour now. If you think this band is Glam, then tell me why. Obviously I'm missing something but I listened to "Knives and Pens" about six times in a row just to be fair. I'm sorry but I just don't hear the Glam. But yeah, the band has dyed black hair.

I agree with you, they remind me of A7X. Not really my type of music, but from BVB's two singles I think its obvious they're good musicians (a rare thing in the industry today) and I'll definately pick up the album to see what its all about.
Musically, you just have to close your eyes and think of how this song would sound if it came on the radio right after Unskinny Bop or something. Does it fit? Then it can probably carry the glam flame. If it doesn't, then its just more emo-rock, and I do agree that this is emo, even all the kids in their school think so. The main difference is that this band sounds like a completely manufactured product to me whereas most glam bands in the day were garage bands playing their way through hollywood or NY clubs until a scout signed them. The music environment in general has completely changed, and that is the primary reason I think big media's attempt at regurgitating old terms is dumb.

I definately don't consider them emo.
i went to one of their concerts last week, and they had this vibe that i can relate to motley crue, they played like it was an arena when it was just a little club.
musically, they're pretty rock n roll, with just a little slice of heavy and a bunch of melodies in it. they're a pretty good band to listen to, but surely they're not glam rock/metal.
