Black Veil Brides - Not So Glam

Ok, I don't get it. Why are people calling Black Veil Brides Glam? They're not Glam. They're emo. Which is fine - I've got nothing against them or emo bands really - I just don't get all the Glam press. Just because the band's singer Andy Six happens to be obsessed with Kiss and Motley Crue doesn't mean much - in sound anyway. In image...well, that's something else. In reality, I think Black Veil Brides is basically screamo with some Bullet for My Valentine/Avenged Sevenfold influence.

Black Veil Brides will release their debut We Stitch These Wounds on July 20. The band is on a Hot Topic sponsored tour now. If you think this band is Glam, then tell me why. Obviously I'm missing something but I listened to "Knives and Pens" about six times in a row just to be fair. I'm sorry but I just don't hear the Glam. But yeah, the band has dyed black hair.

They look glam, and people judge with their eyes and not their ears.

I agree with you, they remind me of A7X. Not really my type of music, but from BVB's two singles I think its obvious they're good musicians (a rare thing in the industry today) and I'll definately pick up the album to see what its all about.

Uhm, no, they don't look glam either.

Yeah, I don't see where the 'glam' comparisons come from -- at a glance, they look more emo than anything -- but I like the song and will check them out. Definitely in the A7X vein. Thanks!

Let us remember that there is a difference between labels referencing a style or fashion trend, and labels referencing a music style. Look-wise, these kids certainly reference glam. Think Pretty Boy Floyd, Enuff Z Nuff, Motley Crue (the one totally has the nikki sixx cut)etc, who essentially invented the look most scene kids are using now.(now->http://tinyurl.com/cqnqph then->http://tinyurl.com/2u7r8uq)
Musically, you just have to close your eyes and think of how this song would sound if it came on the radio right after Unskinny Bop or something. Does it fit? Then it can probably carry the glam flame. If it doesn't, then its just more emo-rock, and I do agree that this is emo, even all the kids in their school think so. The main difference is that this band sounds like a completely manufactured product to me whereas most glam bands in the day were garage bands playing their way through hollywood or NY clubs until a scout signed them. The music environment in general has completely changed, and that is the primary reason I think big media's attempt at regurgitating old terms is dumb.

I hear it. To me they sound alot like SR-71 (except for the growling-type vocals), and they were considered glam (I think mostly as an outgrowth of the honor among theives band).

I definately don't consider them emo.

Its typical of the music today. It aint bad until the singer starts screaming. Then it turns to shit.

Pretty boyz. Pretty boring.

Its odd, a lot of Americans confuse glam with emo. In my opinion Glam is for the bad boys, emo is for the babies who cant handle glam. glam is for men and women, emo is for boys and girls

well they're not glam say as poison, hanoi rocks, or pretty boy floyd, but they are defiantly not "emo"

i went to one of their concerts last week, and they had this vibe that i can relate to motley crue, they played like it was an arena when it was just a little club.

musically, they're pretty rock n roll, with just a little slice of heavy and a bunch of melodies in it. they're a pretty good band to listen to, but surely they're not glam rock/metal.

look im like IN love with the band ever since i found them on youtube and ever since then everyone calls me "emo" and people need to realize that emo is like a state of mind.. not a dress style, not a type of music, and not just cuz they bitchin hair and cuz they wear black.. ive seen them in concert on april 9th with from first to last, confide, sleeping with sirens, and eyes set to kill.. and honestly, black veil brides but on the best show there..

Personally, I think this band is great. I really enjoyed the "Knives and Pens" music video, The Blood at the end was a little over the top, but they are a good band, I know most of you say that the screaming is annoying or makes the song suck right away, but honestly it's all about the type of music you have listened to, or like. I don't know why you are comparing them to Classic Rock bands. This is a new genera of music, and seems to be catching on. Just because the singer is into the bands doesn't mean that they are going to sound that way, they seemed to have done a great job on Youtube with the one video. Once again, it's all about the music you have listened to/listen to.

Like someone said before, Glam is for men and women, emo is for babies who can't handle glam. Glam is for men and women, emo is for boys and girls. These guys arent close to being glam. Maybe a little glamness fashionwise but no where close in music.

their new song is best. i can't stand emo and thats pretty much what they were.

I think they look sorta shock rock, like Alice Cooper, especially in their newest video. The video here is not an accurate representation of them now. Their look is glam, but their music is like Lamb of God lite.

they are more like avenged sevenfold musically and they're not emo anymore. ooo they used to be they used to suck but their new tracks are really good

watch their new video called fallen angels, they look pretty glamed up in it. they also do not scream in the song which in my opinion means they are moving to more of a glam metal state of mind
