I see Stephen Pearcy, formerly of RATT fame, is to be featured in SCRAP METAL, which looks like a lot of fun, too!
If I lived in Minneapolis, I'd be there!
p.s. Hey, Ace, since you're from L.A. and may know some of these guys from the scene, what can you tell us about RATT's infighting and internal legal issues?
Can't wait for round #2 this year !!

Proud to say that 3 of these bands have played The "M-PRE PARTY" show within the last few years. One of them has actually played twice.
I also have to agree with Bob about California (I grew up there and still spend quite a bit of time there). Those Live Nation Package from Hell tours that seem to be the main draw in both N. and S. California baffle me. Slap an energy drink label on it, assemble the contract players, and it is getting to be the same thing every year.
In N. California, we get some of the good national tours and have at least one festival (Aftershock) that has had some good bands and diversity, with another (The Bone Bash) that is hit-or-miss depending on the year. But there just doesn't seem to be enough interest to sustain a festival like this year after year. I'd be curious if someone like Ace has a take on why this is the case. Is it the economics? The demographics? Both? Something else?
I still recall the days when Ozzfest would blow through N. and S. California, or even Lollapalooza. But not a sustained, yearly, event that would act as the US Festival for Geriatrics (a good thing, mind you). Even the Vernal, Utah, festival (seemingly a variation of The Bone Bash formula that I mentioned above) that Dj mentions sounds great.
Clearly, the US is not Europe and California is not the Midwest. Still, nice to see some good concerts for fans around the country.
