Samples Of New Stryper Songs Available

Check it out: Stryper will release Fallen in October. The band has gone ahead and placed the album samples up on Amazon for preview. The samples sound really great, and heavier than usual. I'm not the biggest Stryper fan, but this definitely has potential. Agree?

Aside from the pure cheese of their earlier stuff, I never really gave Sweet or Stryper a chance. It struck me as comical really. And I think that is my mistake and their marketing back in the day. This coming from a guy who sat through a Petra concert that a friend swore would change my mind (they were good but it didn't) and who was given a couple of "white metal" albums over the years by friends and mentors (nice gesture and some sweet licks, but not my cup of tea).

But this new stage in Stryper's career, and in Sweet's in particular, has made me reevaluate them. They chose a niche, true, which limited their range of appeal. But they are talented. And they are bringing it live in a way that few of their peers (in metal generally) can at this point in their career(s). That, from a non-fan but a person who loves metal in most of its facets.

A related point: Sweet & Lynch's _Only to Rise_ was given to me as a gift earlier this year. I have to say, aside from some generic stuff, it did remind me why I enjoy the latter and missed out on some of the former's stuff earlier on. If you like either of them, you might be a bit disappointed. But some of it flat out rocks.
