Lady Gaga Announced As Super Bowl Performer

The rumors were true: Lady Gaga will perform at Superbowl 51 in Houston on February 5. I'm interested to see what she comes up with and who she brings as a guest performer to share the stage with her. I suspect it will be a rock band or at least a famous guitarist. Thoughts on this?

Love Lady GaGa. Super talented, great songs and knows how to put on a hell of a show. She has tons of connections so special guest - which I agree there will be one - could be anybody. I'll take the first guess: Dave Grohl or all Foo Fighters.

I've been speculating just as you are, Ally, as we can be sure many others are, too, as well.

Let's not forget her mind blowing performance with Brian May at the 2011 VMA's! Or her amazing collaboration with Tony Bennett!

Wouldn't it be amazing to see her joined by Queen AND Tony Bennett? If you think about it, if she did a quick medley of her stuff (9 minutes), then a quick number with Tony (3 minutes) and then went into "We Are The Champions / We Will Rock You" with Queen (6 minutes). That could very well be ranked as one of the all-time greatest Super Bowl Half-Time shows ever, especially when you consider what NFL stadium staples those Queen anthems are!

Of course, it might be even better to have her bring out Guns n' Roses!

Or better yet, AXL/DC... Now THAT would really ROCK!

Whoever she goes with, it's going to be a great performance (and spectacle) since she's got more talent and imagination on the tip of her pinky than Beyoncé AND Bruno Mars combined! Or virtually anyone else they've brought out the last few years, i.e. Katy Perry.

p.s. Apparently, they were previously in talks with Adele (another incredible talent) but she backed out due to her perpetual battle with stage fright.

I remember she did a duet with Elton John (on some awards show I believe?) a few years ago that was pretty awesome also. They faced each other playing pianos and let me tell you, the girl can play along with sing. Should be interesting.

Maybe she will bring out Metallica.......

Now THAT would be BADA*S, Lucas...

... especially if they threw one of those leather Brioni suits Metallica now endorses!

Absoulte crap show. Its no wonder more and more people tune out of the halftime show anymore. The last decent one was the Who.

Looking forward to this. She is super-talented and will for sure put on a show. This will be the best halftime since Prince!

Good suggestions in here. Brian May is a GREAT choice and makes total sense given past collaboration, and tunes that would rock the stadium.. AXL/DC or Metallica, we can dream! Metallica would have also been a great choice to headline this halftime show with a new album coming out, and a handful of stadium ready songs everybody knows. Maybe next year.

Jeff, though it's obvious based on my earlier comments, that I am far from agreeing with you that it will be crap.

I also thought The Who were awesome but if you recall, when they performed, it was like no one cared, perhaps because, as much as they are beloved by the Rock & Rollers and as familiar several of their tunes are to NFL stadiums ("Baba O'Riley" and "We Won't Get Fooled Again"), they were a bit "long in the tooth", as they say, by the time they were given the nod to perform.

Maybe if they had done it off "Who Are You?", they would have been received much better. Instead, they went off with a big loud THUD.

Still, though she may not be your cup of tee, GaGa is a HUGE Rock fan herself. Just ask Biff Byford of SAXON, who told the story on "That Metal Show" of her seeing them in England and going backstage to meet them after the show.

So, if I were you, I wouldn't be too quick to make that sandwich during halftime as she'll surely have something big up her sleeve.

Lady Gaga is SO 5 years past her "15 Minutes". so I don't care.

P.S. Metalboy, Adele was never a contender for this, She never was in "negotiations"...
And it's not stagefright... she's (Shhhh.. I didn't tell you) pregnant again.

Ahh, thanks for setting me straight, Ace.

As far as Gaga being so 5 years ago... Not so fast... You know better than anybody about second acts and comebacks. The proof will be in the album sales. One thing's for sure, she'll blow the roof off that stadium. Talent is talent and something that hasn't been properly displayed during halftime in years.

Not rock, but it's about time they got actual talent. Now, I've been hoping for a rock or metal band and I know WASP or Overkill ain't gonna play the superb owl anytime soon, but GNR, AXL/DC, or Metallica seemed like an obvious choice. It'd been cool to see em go out their and play "Hit The Lights, bring King Diamond out for Mercyful Fate and close with Master Of Puppets, but.....I cab only dream. I do hope Gaga has something cool up her sleeve.

She is garbage. Another wasted halftime show. NFL is losing ratings this year big time and this will just add to it.

That is totally laughable you think she's garbage, Badland. Whether you like her or not, she oozes talent.

So, I'm gonna hold ya to that quote regarding her halftime show being a waste of time with low ratings, Badland, because GaGa will actually boost ratings this year, making this the most watched Super Bowl in history.

And you can quote me on that!
