So Maybe The Metallica and Lady Gaga Grammy Performance Was Okay
I was really disappointed in watching the Metallica and Lady Gaga Grammy performance on Sunday night because James Hetfield's mic didn't work and that threw the whole thing off. Well, according to SIXX Sense, the web feed of the performance was fine. So, now we can actually watch the video again - this time with James' mic working! Who knew?!
James Hetfield's mic worked just fine on the web feed of their #GRAMMYs performance. Watch here https://t.co/eXsbnWR069 pic.twitter.com/SsKu0WHkqW

Also, I just wanted to post this picture because it's awesome:

Then here's me trying to explain to my wife how this song completely rocks and is the best (in my opinion) song on there new album... blah, blah, blah... back to the book :)
I thought the performance was great, it worked, it rocked !
Even worse than the Metallica gaffs, though, was when the house band played (a really crappy version of) Master of Puppets when Megadeth was announced as the winner. Cringe worthy.
And though it is a bit more palatable with Hetfield's vocals restored, the mix was off as he and GaGa were just buried. MetaliGa (Thanks to whoever I stole that from!) would have fared far better with "Hardwired", for which Metallica was nominated. Or, better yet, "Master of Puppets" which would have suited GaGa's voice much better.
That might have actually gotten GNR's Wife to look up from her book a bit longer we'll, that AND the mix and the mic issues.
Then again, I also thought Megadeth would win. Oh wait. They did?!!? Sweet, sweet, non-important justice for Dave and his merry band of music makers. Dude's a loon. But a talented one, with a more consistently focused (Risk and Super Collider notwithstanding, and I could stand them) and extensive catalog than those who kicked him out (for good reasons, granted).
To be fair, a world with both Metallica and Megadeth in it is a good place.
p.s. Lars Ulrich claims Megadeth and GaGa have agreed to record an album together. I love that idea so long as it doesn't turn out to be anything ther "LuLu"!
And I hope that the Mustaine haters noticed how gracefully he overlooked the god-awful Metallica music they played while he and his band-mates walked up to receive their award. Like I said, Dave is a world class loon. But he also has a capacity to be urbane, classy, and lucid when the mood strikes [sidebar: I continue to recommend his autobio as a good read].
