A Note About Groupon Refunds

A lot of people buy concert tickets on Groupon. There were dozens and dozens of shed shows planned for this summer and most had lawn tickets available on Groupon. Of course all those concerts are canceled now. I had tickets for Nickelback purchased through Groupon.

Neither the band or Groupon explained how to get a refund so I went to the Groupon Facebook page and sent a message asking for my money back. Immediately an auto-bot responded and asked for the email associated with my account. I gave it and there was no other response so I went on with my business and forgot about it. This morning I had a push alert from the Groupon app that my refund will be processed and I will have my money in about 10 days.

So the moral here is that if you purchased tickets through Groupon, you should proactively request a refund. Do not assume it will just automatically happen. We have seen all sorts of instances where companies like Ticketmaster want to make it as hard as possible to return money in the wake of hundreds of canceled shows. Do not wait - get your money back as soon as possible.

Thanks! I have Ratt/Skid Row tickets that I don’t want until it’s potentially happening. I’ll contact Groupon

That's cool-good for you Allyson! Groupon can be hard to deal with if things go wrong on a regular day, I can't imagine dealing during these times. Will be interesting to see how the industry recovers from all this...
