Ticketmaster Pisses People Off (Again)

Democratic Congresswoman from New York Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez said today at Ticketmaster is monopoly. She isn't wrong. Apparently Taylor Swift tickets went on sale today and the process was bonkers and frustrating for folks that tried to get seats. Also, the Ticketmaster waiting room (which I hate) just sat and didn't advance. Then Ticketmaster apparently crashed.

Daily reminder that Ticketmaster is a monopoly, it’s merger with LiveNation should never have been approved, and they need to be reigned in.

Break them up.

Shouldn't Ticketmaster know to ramp up server capacity before launching a Taylor Swift pre-sale?

Oh and since we're talking about Taylor (sort of), she was nominated for a bunch more Grammy Awards today. 46 total over her career, actually. Who would have guessed so many people would want to see her live? I'm shocked I tell you, shocked.

Let's not forget that Ticketmaster also bought TicketsNow. They get to keep tickets from going on sale and automatically put them on the scalping website. It's ridiculous that one can buy overpriced tickets on TicketsNow and even StubHub before their on sale to the public.

- Yes TM is a monopoly, the worst part is that they also serve as the ticket scalpers nowadays.

- I've had TM crash out on me before, buying Paul McCartney tix when they went onsale. Was lucky that day in that I was close enough proximity to the arena that I could run over and buy tickets the old way at box office.

- I actually AM shocked that so many want to see Taylor Swift live (with no sarcasm)... guess I just shelter myself enough that I am super aware of what's going on in rock & metal; and have no concept of who the "big stars" are nowadays for the People magazine reading crowd.

- Speaking of Grammys, did y'all see that Muse is a METAL band now hahahahaha. Same as it ever was with that institution.

That may truly well be, Mike, but I still believe The RARHOF, warts and all, has it’s place (when they get it right, which, admittedly, is a rare occurrence) …

As for all the Taylor Swift tickets mayhem, there is just no limit to the U.S. general public’s outright obsession with all things mediocre …
