March 2022 New Music Playlist

Another month is in the books and now it is April. So Happy April's Fools Day, everyone - just remember to not be a jerk to folks if you play pranks. I woke up to snow this morning and that's no joke. Disgusting! At least it is Friday.

This month, the playlist features new tracks from Reckless Love, Hardcore Superstar, Bad Wolves, Shaman's Harvest... and KISS. I forgot that KISS were releasing a new live album. It's called KISS Off The Soundboard: Live in Virginia Beach. The tracks were recorded in 2004 and I chose "Tears Are Falling" for the playlist. Enjoy!

I know this is low-hanging fruit, but . . . even in 2004 you could hear Stanley struggling vocally. The fact that he 'sweetens' his vocals nowadays is no surprise and, given the current trends in music, not that big of a deal (to some people). But to not admit it? Kinda' odd. And it undercuts his other, oftentimes sage, comments.

I have a casual relationship with KISS (we can date other people). I was introduced to them via their 80s output. So songs like this are ones I first heard when I heard KISS. Of course, I explored the older stuff and then found that I liked it more, even as I picked and chose amongst some of their later stuff ("Crazy Nights" is one of the best fondue-fests in the world and some of the songs on _Revenge_ just slam!).

All that said, I hope this really is their final run. And I hope they don't turn this into KISS on Ice or Psycho Circus du Soleil with a rotating cast of musicians with even worse 'hair systems' than Simmons. Besides, they will be releasing stuff into the next century. The licensing Gods demand it.
