Riley's L.A. Guns To Play Show In January

Kelly Nickels has posted an update about a Riley's L.A. Guns show set for the end of January. Despite drummer Riley's untimely death last month, there have been questions about the band's scheduled show at the Mohegan Sun Arena on January 20. Most folks, me included, just assumed the show would be canceled. That is not the case and the band will continue on without Steve -- at least for this one show. We'll see what happens going forward I suppose. It also isn't clear who is playing drums in place of Steve.

2023 Record Store Day 'Black Friday' Releases Announced

Record Store Day happens in April and also "Black Friday" in America. That's the day after Thanksgiving and the traditional start to the holiday shopping season.

There's some good stuff on the list this year including KIX, L.A. Guns and Skid Row. I am going for the special re-release of Kix Cool Kids. The Skid Row is a pressing of the cover album B-Side Ourselves originally released in 1992.

The L.A. Guns release is Live in Boston 1989. This previously unreleased live album features the band's classic lineup as well as track like "One More Reason," "Rip And Tear" and "Electric Gypsy."

See all of the Black Friday Record Store Day releases below.

'You Betray' -- L.A. Guns, New Song

L.A. Guns will release a new album called Black Diamonds this April. One of the first songs from that effort is "You Betray." The song premiered on Eddie Trunk's SiriusXM show last week, but I missed it. I was waiting for it to appear on YouTube and now it has... complete with an official lyric video!

The guitar riff is more "chuggy" than typical Tracii Guns/L.A. Guns style. Sort of like an old school Black Sabbath meets NuMetal vibe. I'm not sure I dig the echo sound, but that could be my computer speakers more than anything. It is pretty clear that the guys in the band put a lot of work into these new songs and made a very concerted effort to push for a modern -- yet melodic -- sound. What do you think?

Tracii Guns Overcomes His Panic Disorder

Tracii Guns has panic disorder. I know this because he announced it on his Twitter feed. Heat is an anxiety trigger for him and it's been crazy hot in much of the world the past few days. LA Guns has been playing live gigs and to get around the heat issue, Tracii did the set inside an air conditioned bathroom. Since it's 2022, he live-streamed his toilet gig so people could watch.

Folks without anxiety-related disorders have no idea how hard some "normal" things can be for folks with panic problems. So called "easy stuff" like being in the heat, driving on the highway, eating with other people, talking in public, flying on planes - it all can be crippling for folks with panic disorder. Props to Tracii for highlighting the issue and for overcoming with a unique solution. I love it.

Watch The 'Cannonball' Video Ye Matey!

L.A. Guns have a new video for their song "Cannonball," a track from the upcoming album Checkered Past. This clip is fun and very pirate-themed. Nice guitar solo work by Tracii Guns, too. This is definitely a nice rocker.

L.A. Guns Announce New Album Details

L.A. Guns will release Checkered Past on November 12. The band will also tour in support of the record. You can pre-order Checkered Past now and go ahead and check out the latest single "Knock Me Down" too.

I think "Knock Me Down" is a pretty strong effort. Phil Lewis is an underrated vocalist and I love the grit in his voice here. I've always been a big fan of Tracii Guns' guitar playing so I'm not surprised he sounds good here, too. What do you think?
