The Best Thin Lizzy Cover Of All Time: Metallica

"Whiskey In The Jar" is an old Irish folk song. It's been performed and covered for a long time, perhaps most famously by Thin Lizzy. The band made the track their own - it's a signature song all the way back from the early 70s. A couple decades-plus later, Metallica covered the Thin Lizzy version of "Whiskey In The Jar." The song hit big for Metallica and they even won a Grammy award for their version.

Metallica's version of "Whiskey In The Jar" is on the 1998 album Garage, Inc. I remember when Garage, Inc. came out - it was kind of a big deal in my little world. Always been a fan of their take on "Whiskey In The Jar."

Metallica, 'Sad But True' -- Pro-Shot Live, August 25, 2023

I love this! Metallica performed at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles on August 25. The band drew something like 80,000 people setting a record. Each night of their current M72 tour features a different setlist. On August 25, folks in the crowd got to see Metallica do "Sad But True."

Metallica Comes To Movie Theatres (Again)

So this is happening: Metallica will bring their massive 72 Seasons world tour to cinemas next month.

The concert  will be live from AT&T Stadium in Arlington, TX on August 18 and again August 20.

Metallica: M72 World Tour Live From Arlington, TX; A Two Night Event, will feature two nights of  completely different setlists. Metallica won't play a song twice over these two nights, so fans can watch both concerts and get totally different experiences which is kind of cool.

I like when bands don't just perform their biggest hits during concerts. Paying customers are usually there for some deep cuts too.

Metallica: 'If Darkness Had a Son' (The Amsterdam Sessions)

Amazon Music Presents continues to impress me with their special events. The most recent is the video below, which is Metallica performing "If Darkness Had a Son" in Amsterdam.

Metallica did four live performances for Amazon recently and all were released today. All four songs are below the video. While "If Darkness Had a Son" is from the new release 72 Seasons, the band also performed a couple of classics as well.

Metallica will release their new album 72 Seasons on April 14... this means the wait is almost over! A few days ago, the band released the official video for the album's title track. This album is going to be huge for the Metal community. All the songs released so far are pretty epic. Let's keep it up!

Also, I freaking love that Metallica has a special cassette version of 72 Seasons, too.

Power Trip Festival Lineup Announcement Coming Today

Power Trip is a new metal festival and the rumored lineup is huge. Bands like Metallica, Guns n' Roses, AC/DC, Tool, Ozzy Osbourne and Iron Maiden.

Yep.

The promoter is Goldenvoice - they do Coachella, so we're talking deep pockets here. Power Trip will apparently take place October 6 - 8 at the same location as Coachella, which is the Empire Polo Grounds in Indio, California. That's not too far from Palm Springs.

At some point today, promoters will announce the official lineup and ticket prices. I expect both to be massive (ha).

Back to those "rumors." I'd consider them more confirmations when bands like Metallica and AC/DC literally tweet the same video as below with the saying "Are you ready for a Power Trip?" Then Sharon Osbourne was on Piers Morgan Uncensored and confirmed Ozzy's appearance and she also mentioned Metallica and AC/DC, so...

It will be interesting to see who rounds out the lineup. Will it be 70s and 80s metal or stray toward newer acts? I guess we will all know soon enough.

Metallica, 'Screaming Suicide' -- New Video

Metallica has a new video from their upcoming album 72 Seasons. The video is for "Screaming Suicide" and it is an attempt by the band to openly talk about a taboo subject. The song is a rocker, that's for sure. James Hetfield shares a personal message about the song below:
