Los Angeles Pays Respects To Taylor Hawkins

Like the UK version, there was a big Taylor Hawkins tribute concert last night in Los Angeles. Loads of famous musicians came out to show their support - including Nikki Sixx and Tommy Lee, who played some Motley Crue classics. Wolfgang Van Halen shredded some Van Halen hits again and Sebastian Bach was there too.

The show raised money for Music Support and MusiCares.

45 Years Of 'Eruption'

So this is killer: Wolfgang Van Halen wailing on "Eruption" to celebrate the 45th anniversary of the song. It's hard to believe that Eddie Van Halen recorded the groundbreaking guitar solo-signature track five decades ago.

Wolfgang has major talent, no doubt about that. Also no doubt that Eddie was his father. Amazing.

If you want to watch something fun, here's four music-loving guys watching Eddie Van Halen play "Eruption" live for the first time ever. The bulk of "Eruption" starts around the 7:30 mark if you want to skip ahead. Their minds are blown!

This Is Awesome: Wolfgang Van Halen Shreds 'Hot For Teacher' Live

There are all kinds of amazing clips online from the Taylor Hawkins Tribute Concert held today in London. The clip below shows Wolfgang Van Halen playing lead guitar, while Justin Hawkins of The Darkness sings lead and Dave Grohl plays bass. Josh Freese is behind the kit - they all just destroy "Hot For Teacher." I love Wolfie's shredding of the solo - just like his dad used to do!

Remembering Eddie Van Halen

Today is the one year anniversary of Eddie Van Halen's death. During the past 12 months we've had a lot of tributes from fellow rockers. For me, it still doesn't seem real that such an icon is gone. Eddie's son Wolfgang posted a touching message on his Twitter account, just as he did one year ago.

Eddie died at 65 from cancer. He was a heavy smoker which is a big cancer risk factor. Since the pandemic took hold of the world, many people put off annual physicals and other appointments that might catch cancer early. Maybe one of Eddie's greatest legacies will be that he reminded folks in his age group to go see a doctor once in awhile just for a tune-up.

There are tributes all over social media to Eddie today. These I found interesting:
