Whitesnake Announces New Bass Player
Wednesday, November 24, 2021 at 12:22PM
Tanya O’Callaghan is the new bass player for Whitesnake. She replaces Michael Devin. This is kind of exciting stuff. She played with Dee Snider and Steven Adler and it seems like she's going to fit in well with Whitesnake.

But . . . fits in with Whitesnake?!?! You mean the bands that strains to contain the metal misogyny that Mr. Veneers cleverly sets to music? The band that is, as they approach their farewell tour, finding extra singers to round out the rest of the lyrics that Capt. Screechy can't or won't hit/sing any longer?
And I will be fair here on two counts. One, Coverdale finally realized it was time to exit the live setting (still plans to record). Good on him, even if it is a decade or so too late. Two, O’Callaghan doesn't shy away from her looks when performing . . . and proves her chops live no matter what else you have to say. But there is going to be a bit of a tension, image-wise, when she is rocking the bass (not just slapping it!) and Ole Mr. 69 is doing his microphone stand humping during "Slide It In."
Finally, tonight, somewhere, Adler is grumbling into his mashed potatoes!
